For Urban Land ICON Vice-President Steven Heiken and the former Director of Business Development survey the slough of recent housing redevelopment projects on newly available former state hospitals, schools and military bases in Massachusetts between 2001 and 2006. Close to transportation or within short driving distance of downtown, some of these sites have been ideal candidates for smart growth and have provided unique opportunities for positive redevelopment.
