- Incorporating leading-edge sustainable design, the George Robert White Environmental Conservation Center houses Mass Audubon, an exemplary organization dedicated to teaching sustainability at all levels. The Center features green technologies including extensive daylighting (with automatic daylight dimming of lighting fixtures); geothermal heat pumps, gray water for garden irrigation, solar hot water, green building materials, structural insulated panels, natural ventilation and photovoltaic shingles on the roof to supplement the building's energy needs. The Exhibit Hall, classrooms, and education wing combine with administrative offices in the natural site highlighted with native vegetation and constructed wetlands.
