- Olneyville Keepspace Planning Study

- ICON worked with the Olneyville Housing Corporation as part of Rhode Island Housing's KeepSpace Communities initiative-a newly conceived, holistic approach to community planning, design, and development. ICON first addressed the critical issue of housing foreclosure in the neighborhood, providing analytic maps to guide OHC in its acquisition efforts and putting forth administrative strategies to stabilize the residential neighborhood. Efforts then focused on Olneyville Square and ways to improve both business opportunities and the public realm, especially along the Woonasquatucket where there are opportunities to create another link in the city-wide bike network. The Keepspace Master Plan was instrumental in Olneyville's success in winning a 2011 HUD Choice Neighborhoods Planning Grant, as well as funding for construction of 14 units of housing in five buildings and 25 units of gut renovation in ten foreclosed properties.
