Serving as the heart of the community at The Devon at Weiss Farm, the Clubhouse is rooted in the land’s agricultural heritage yet is fully contemporary in spirit.
Set on 26 acres just 10 miles from Boston and minutes from downtown Stoneham and the Melrose Highlands Commuter Rail, the development includes the Clubhouse, surrounded by residential buildings and townhomes, offering residents a rare balance of access, convenience, and tranquil green surroundings. The LEED Silver rated project reflects a commitment to sustainability and a clean, modern aesthetic. ICON provided interior design services for the Clubhouse and Model Unit.
Inspired by the site’s original barn, the Clubhouse reinterprets traditional forms with a gambrel roof and expansive ceilings, while the interiors remain unmistakably modern. Light-filled and refined, the spaces include subtle nods to the past: repurposed barn beams used as screening dividers, artwork recalling the dairy and equestrian history, and barn-red accents that enrich without defining the design.
A three-sided fireplace anchors the Clubhouse, greeting residents with warmth and an impressive sense of scale. Around this focal point, residents enjoy amenities for productivity, wellness, and leisure, including a fitness center with private virtual workout pods, work-from-home suites with video-conferencing booths and printing stations, lounge and gaming areas, a catering kitchen, and a coffee bar that playfully honors the property’s dairy past. A pet spa with grooming station and the community’s leasing offices complete the program, reinforcing the Clubhouse as both lifestyle hub and functional anchor.
The Clubroom’s dramatic open volume was achieved through strategic space planning. Mechanical systems were shifted above restrooms, creating a feature: a catwalk with sliding barn doors that conceal the mechanical attic, drawing the eye upward and adding visual interest.
Seamless flow between indoors and outdoors is essential. Expansive sliding doors open to a patio with grilling stations, a firepit, lounge areas, daybeds, and direct pool access. A curated live-plant program inside reinforces this connection, blending nature and architecture for a cohesive environment.
While the Clubhouse is the community’s focal point, its character resonates throughout the development. Clean lines, modern finishes, and a restrained yet inspired palette establish a unified, contemporary identity for The Devon at Weiss Farm.
