141 Tremont Street Boston, MA
When ICON relocated to the 7th floor of 141 Tremont Street, the design team saw an opportunity to reimagine the workplace as a dynamic, collaborative environment that supports today’s hybrid work culture. The renovation embraces flexibility, transparency, and connection—both among colleagues and with the surrounding city.
Organized around a variety of shared spaces, the office features breakout meeting areas, touch-down zones, dedicated Zoom rooms, and open collaboration hubs that frame sweeping views of the Boston Common. Designed to foster spontaneous learning and cross-disciplinary interaction, the open plan encourages real-time design conversations and meaningful engagement across teams.
The interior design celebrates contrast and material richness. Deep green-black millwork and wall paneling ground the space, while warm white stone flooring and fluted oak accents introduce softness and texture. A central hospitality zone—anchored by a sculptural slatted island and custom banquette seating—serves as both a casual meeting area and a social hub. Brass hardware, marble-look surfaces, and integrated greenery contribute to a curated, hospitality-inspired atmosphere.
Sustainability was at the heart of the project, aligning with ICON’s practice—bringing materials, ideas, and energy back to life. A rich palette of textures, reclaimed elements, and biophilic features like greenery installations were incorporated to stimulate the senses and ground the space in nature.
Custom lighting, from a sinuous linear pendant to subtle globe sconces, adds visual interest while maintaining clean lines and a minimalist sensibility. Throughout the workplace, transparency and connection remain priorities: glass-front conference rooms, open workstations, and informal lounge zones support both focused work and spontaneous collaboration.
The result is a workplace that reflects ICON’s values—thoughtful, forward-thinking, sustainable, and designed with intention.
