Brimfield Town Hall
Brimfield, MA

View On Map

Working with the Town of Brimfield and their Owner’s Project Manager, Terva Corp, ICON Architecture developed plans to revitalize Brimfield’s historic Town Hall. The building is in the Brimfield Center Historic District and is vacant. Built in 1878, the Town Hall is a rare example of civic Stick-style architecture. It was designed by Springfield architect Eugene Clarence Gardner. Including a 1932 stage addition and the basement, the existing building is 8,000 GSF.

After meeting with the Town, we determined that 11,000 GSF was required to meet their departmental needs. Our charge was preserving the character of the community while working within limited financial resources. The recommended solution is a 3-story wood-frame addition on the back of the building and restoration of the original building. The addition makes the building fully accessible, provides modern workspaces, and enables the preservation of the original meeting hall.
