Brimfield Town Hall

This feasibility study explores the restoration and expansion of Brimfield’s 1878 Stick-style Town Hall to meet modern municipal needs while preserving its historic character. Located in the Brimfield Center Historic District, the vacant 8,000 GSF building is a rare example of civic architecture by Springfield architect Eugene Clarence Gardner.

Working with the Town and its Owner’s Project Manager, the study identified the need for approximately 11,000 GSF to accommodate current departmental requirements. The recommended solution combines restoration of the original building with a three-story wood-frame addition at the rear, enabling full accessibility, modern workspaces, and continued use of the historic meeting hall.

The study balances preservation goals with financial constraints, providing a clear path forward for revitalizing an important civic landmark.
