Soundview Landing Ribbon Cutting – Norwalk, CT

This week, ICON celebrated the ribbon cutting for the first completed phase of the Washington Village Redevelopment in Norwalk, CT. Soundview Landing creates 80 new mixed-income apartments for residents who were impacted by Hurricane Sandy in 2012.

As the recipient of a large-scale CHOICE Neighborhoods award and 30 million dollars of infrastructure funding, the existing Washington Village public housing project was one of the oldest remaining such developments in Connecticut. This redevelopment, within walking distance of the SoNo train station, is designed to conform to the recently adopted TOD zoning guidelines for the area and FEMA requirements for construction in an AE flood zone. The City of Norwalk partnered with the Norwalk Housing Authority and Trinity Financial, raising the infrastructure and street grades by five feet. The multi-phase project includes the creation of a vibrant 273 -unit mixed-income community, with amenities and social programs, and new streetscapes and pocket parks for residents.
