The Renaissance Unfolding in Fitchburg

The renovation of the BF Brown School, as described by speakers, is the “tipping point” of the Renaissance unfolding in Fitchburg. This week ICON Architecture, along with the greater Fitchburg community, kicked-off restoring the fire-damaged roof of the B.F Brown building with a “Topping-Off Celebration”. The building is at the center of the planned Fitchburg Arts Community, a collaborative, multi-year initiative committed to transforming Fitchburg’s North of Main Neighborhood. U.S. Rep. Niki Tsongas said she has affection for cities like Fitchburg, particularly cities that are struggling in the post-industrial era, yet still have pride and a strong “sense of place.” The Fitchburg Arts Community is set to come together with three other North of Main projects, which collectively will bring over $100 million of investment into Fitchburg’s downtown. These ICON-designed projects include the renovation of City Hall, the restoration of the historic Fitchburg Theatre, and the Game Design Studio + IdeaLAB by Fitchburg State University.
